Co-owners, Rob & Sarah, reside in Baldwinsville, and have always had a passion for cooking quality food together. Rob brings 30 years of experience from the food industry and Sarah is a Registered Dietitian with an entrepreneurial background.

The name Maydan was inspired by our children’s names, Maya and Aidan, and upon researching were surprised to find that Maydan is also a real word (who knew!). It was originally a Persian word which has been adopted by many other languages in various spellings. Maydan means a public gathering place, square, or open space in the center of town…. super fitting for our cafe, located in the heart of Baldwinsville.

Our logo was carefully curated, keeping the cafe’s mission in mind. The central elements are the leaves, which form an “M” shape, representing Maydan, while also reflecting its values of sustainability and connection to nature. The circular arrangement symbolizes community and togetherness. Around the leaves, there are stylized human figures that represent the social space the cafe creates, highlighting connection and warmth.
